About The Irish-American Cultural Society of Stamford

The Irish-American Cultural Society of Stamford (IACSOS) is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to celebrating Irish-American heritage and the contributions of Irish immigrants to the Stamford, CT community. As a community-focused organization, IACSOS coordinates and produces the annual Stamford St. Patrick's Day Grand Marshal's Dinner and Parade, events that draw tens of thousands of attendees from Stamford and the surrounding region each year. These inclusive celebrations honor the American immigration story while recognizing the profound cultural, civic, religious, philanthropic, and business influences that Irish people have brought to the area. Beyond the signature parade and dinner events, IACSOS works to preserve and share the rich history of Irish settlement in Stamford, dating back to the 18th century when Irish immigrants arrived to work on the region's canals, railroads, and manufacturing facilities. The organization administers community scholarships, including the James Bartley Scholarship, supporting local students pursuing higher education. Operating entirely on donations from the private sector without city, state, or federal funding, IACSOS demonstrates deep commitment to the Stamford, Connecticut community through its volunteer leadership and ongoing cultural programming. The organization serves as a bridge between Stamford's Irish heritage and its diverse, multicultural present, embodying the principle that "everybody is Irish on St. Patrick's Day" while celebrating the enduring legacy of Irish-American contributions to the region's identity and prosperity.
