About Daughters of Erin
The Daughters of Erin is Columbus, Ohio's largest Irish-American women's organization, dedicated to preserving and celebrating Irish heritage while making a meaningful difference in the community. Founded in 1978, the organization has grown into a vibrant force that combines cultural celebration with charitable service. The Daughters of Erin organizes and participates in numerous events throughout the year, including parades, festivals, picnics, and cultural celebrations that bring the Columbus community together. Their signature events such as the Dublin Irish Festival Irish Tea Room, golf outings, and bowling extravaganzas serve as both social gatherings and fundraising initiatives. Beyond social activities, the organization operates several specialized programs including their renowned Clown Unit, which entertains seniors, children, and those in need with joy and laughter. The organization also established the Irish Theater Project to showcase plays about Irish heritage while funding college scholarships for deserving students. The Daughters of Erin's Irish Experience Program offers high school students a transformative six-week study opportunity in Ireland to explore their cultural roots and heritage. Throughout their history, the organization has raised over $650,000 for local, national, and international charitable causes, supporting more than 50 nonprofit organizations. Their humanitarian efforts include adopting families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, preparing Easter baskets for those in need, and providing consistent support to organizations serving vulnerable populations. Meetings are held monthly from September through June, welcoming women who share a passion for Irish culture and community service in the Columbus area.
